ok,so last weekend i went to Dominican Rep. for four days it was an emergency trip, but in spanish theres a saying that goes to bad times show a good face something like that you guys get me, so i decided to go to the carnaval in La Vega, every sunday during the month of February every town in Dominican Republic has a carnival, La Vega is the most famous one in the country, it is estimated that more than 100,000 thousand people go to this small town, Dancing, Partying,Parades, driking, and of course getting your whacked on your butt by the diablos is an awesome experience, a little a short explanation about the carnival in La vega.some of the the diablos are nice and will pose for the camara but there was one that came after me with the balloon to hit me..:)
The Carnival is the most traditional popular festivity of the Dominican Republic. It goes back to the colony, on the eve of lent, when people in Santo domingo disguised themselves to imitate the European Shrovetide.
If "people began to wear masks in Santo Domingo" as of the 16th century, the truth is that this colonial tradition increased with the heroic deeds of the republicans on February 27, 1844 and August 16, 1865, to such an extent that almost since then these are the official dates of celebration of our carnivals, regardless of the fact that they may fall or not on shrovetide. The first date at least normally falls on lent. It is known that the carnival is celebrated before lent, which is a time of penance and preparation for Christ´s passion. taken from this web site...http://www.dominicana.com.do/english/carnival.htm here are some pictures hope you guys like it
